The Miami Rowing Club is the most prolific youth rowing program in South Florida throughout its 30 year history. Our rowers have competed at the highest levels in the country and the world, winning medals at the Junior World Championships, Senior National Lightweight Championships, Under 23 World Championships, US Junior National Championships, CanAmMex Regatta, Canadian Henley, and a multitude of Regional and State Championships (1).


What are the requirements to join the MRC Youth Program?
  • Male or female students from 6th grade through 12 grade.
  • Students from all schools are eligible to participate in the program.
  • No rowing experience is necessary.
  • Be available to travel to other rowing venues to represent MRC in regattas across the state of Florida and the United States.

A Long Tradition in Athletic and Character Development
  • The Miami Rowing Club Youth Rowing Program is the backbone and a key athletic focus of MRC activities and efforts.
  • Through rowing training and competition, middle and high school students experience growth, discipline, and maturity.
  • Rowers can race at the Novice, Junior Varsity, and Varsity levels, providing racing opportunities for all skill and experience levels at the regattas.
  • No child is turned away from our program for financial reasons.

College rowing Scholarship Opportunities
  • Inexperienced but committed rowers can achieve a level of proficiency to attract college recruiters.
  • Many Youth Program graduates have received rowing scholarships to top colleges and universities.
  • Our annual participation in championship regattas makes MRC attractive to college recruiters.

Rowing in College

Our Youth program rowers have been the recipients of major college and university attention. Our coaching staff has rowed and coached at the highest levels of collegiate competition in the country. As past President of US Rowing, Monk Terry is uniquely positioned to help place prospective collegiate rowers at great rowing universities. In addition, our alumni network is extensive, with many MRC Youth Program Alumni rowing at the highest levels in colleges across in the country, and are available to help aspiring collegiate rowers attain their goals of rowing at the collegiate level.   Current members and master competitors, Eddie Montalvo and Fernando Mendoza are past world medalists with extensive collegiate contacts.
